[Cas was already waiting...really he should've just told her to come here. He really is feeling under the weather, asking her such a dumb question knowing full well she can't answer. Ugh. Fucking...Atroma assholes. Fucking augment bullshit.

[She's seen him look worse. He doesn't remember, which is probably a good thing, but all the same. Illness is not a good look on you, angel.]

Are you sure you don't want to conduct this meeting in some nice, warm cafe somewhere?

[That's her introduction. She's fighting a temptation to give him her hat and scarf.]

[She's probably seen him this cranky before too, but at least he's keeping his ire directed solely at his situation and not the people unfortunate enough to stumble upon him within it.]

It wouldn't make a difference. This is from the augment. [He gestures for her to sit beside him.] You wanted to know what happened.

[She has absolutely seen him this cranky. There's a ghost of child relief it's not directed at her tbh. Katie sits down obediently on the seat next to him with her hands folded in her lap and says nothing.]

[This silent obedience feels like it should be uncharacteristic of her, but...well, whatever. Not important right now.]

As far as I could tell, there were no arrangements made in preparation for the assault. While the others could cause damage to the ship, it repaired itself almost instantly. Even outside of my vessel I wasn't able to find a way inside, so I believe the ship must also be very powerfully warded inside and out.

And there is something inside. If not alive, then it has intent.

[It's more that he's ill and she can't say anything particularly sincere, so...]

One would assume the Marsiva has a crew in any case, wouldn't one? [He said that in a rather spooky fashion, though. She figured as much with the damage, though it's sort of heartening that damage can be done at all, even if it's repaired immediately.] There are many areas on that ship most of us can never go.

[Cas is already shaking his head, clenching a shaking fist as if testing its strength before scowling and loosening his grip. He could show her, he could pass on the memory but- but he's already used too much strength. And with the fever, the hallucinations- no, it's not safe.] It isn't crew. It was this...this formless entity. This Emptiness.

[Oh. That gives form to a more unsettled quiet, because if anything frightens fae it's true emptiness. An angel wouldn't describe it as such in a fit of drama; she takes his meaning straight to heart.]

How did you find it? Did you see it or just feel it?

I saw it. I- [Mutters something under his breath, glaring down at his hand again.] If I were well I could share the memory with you, but like this...it's too dangerous.

Perhaps another time. Do you think this illness will last?

I don't think so, no. [Lowers his hand.] I'm better than I was yesterday. I should recover.

Oh. Sam will be disappointed to hear that, I'm sure. [It's part lie and part fond exasperation that Sam tends to blame himself for everything ever.]

...how did you see it? It's been a long time since anyone managed to see the Atroma.

I looked through a window. [mysteriously]

Is it that simple, then? [Somehow, despite everything, she's amused.] Clearly we should all play voyeur more often.

[Though more seriously:] Do you think they wanted you to see it?

[Yeah it was kind of funny. Wasn't easy, since there's no way it would be visible from even a shuttle patroling around the outside of the ship so you had to see it from right against the hull, but still. It was just...there.]

I don't know. [Pause.] Once I recover, I'll be returning to look again.

[Are you sure that's wise? But she doesn't say as much, instead frowning slightly.] For what purpose?

[what do u mean, headtilt] I didn't get to Sam.

[Bless. She matches his headtilt exactly.] Will you stop once he's retrieved?

I would be less inclined to go. [So, no, but he'd probably slow down a little.]

Well, even stubborn angels need a vacation sometimes. Make sure you save enough of yourself for the next time we end up being on an apocalypse planet.

Thank you, Katie. [He sees that repeat attempt to get him to relax and he appreciates it, but it's just not possible.] You're very kind.

I'm as kind as they come. Or at least that's what I want you to think.

[She pauses.] Do angels sleep?

No. [Hesitates.] We can fall unconscious if we're grievously wounded, but it's not the same as sleep.

Well, grievously wounding you seems a bit like overkill. It's a shame. If you don't sleep, how can you dream?

We don't do that either. [But, tradeoff, no nightmares. So.]
